5 individuals killed, while 17 were wounded, during a tragic vehicle accident in Taytay, Rizal, last May 17.
According to Taytay Police Superintendent Samuel Delorino, a container truck with a plate number TBP 967, tried to avoid two tricycles in front of him.
However, the truck lost its brakes and the driver, John Paul Pestu, was forced to turn right hitting the tricycles.
The truck then plowed some stalls in the wet market of Cabrera Road, Tikling, Barangay Dolores before hitting a tree.
Delorino revealed that included amongst the five victims was a female senior citizen and a girl ageing 2 to 3 years old.
A male motorcycle driver was also killed due to a skull fracture after he was hit by the truck.
The accident also caused heavy traffic in the area.
“Yung nakita natin sa CCTV ng ating munisipyo ay itong truck na ito ay parang meron siyang iniwasan na tricycle na kung saan hindi siya naka-iwas. Meron siyang natumbok.” Delorino said during an exclusive interview with DZRH. “Yung container nan aka-loop sa loob niya ay tumama doon sa may puno na kahoy.”
