Malacanang is not prohibiting certain personalities to attend the “EDSA-Salubungan” in Cebu City on February 25, Tuesday.
This was stated by PCOO Secretary Sonny Coloma Jr. after some key players of the EDSA People Power One were dragged in the Pork Barrel Fund Scam.
Coloma said that there is no discrimination on the personalities who were part of the historic EDSA bloodless revolution in 1986.
It is not part of the agenda of the government to set aside those key players in EDSA because the spirit of EDSA has nothing to do with the current investigation of the Pork Barrel fund scam.
Senators’ Juan Ponce-Enrile and Gringo Honasan were a big part of the revolution and are now entangled in the most controversial scam in the Philippines to date.
According to Coloma, it is up to the People Power Commission on the invitations of those attending the said event.
President Benigno Aquino III decided to move the celebration of EDSA is Cebu so that he will be able to spend time with the victims of typhoon Yolanda and the killer quake that hit Eastern Visayas.
“Wala namang kinalaman ang pagkakasangkot nila sa pork barrel sa EDSA one..pinapahalagahan natin ang kasaysayan. Wala tayong agenda na mag-discriminate against anybody dahil ito pong pag-commemorate sa EDSA ay naayon sa kasaysayan.”
