The local court has issued a warrant of arrest against Senator Leila De Lima regarding her case in connection with her alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison.
The Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court branch 204 under the sala of Judge Juanita Guerrero issued the said arrest warrant against De Lima on her drug trafficking case.
Aside from De Lima, the court also ordered the arrest of former Bureau of Corrections Chief Rafael Ragos and De Lima’s former bodyguard, lover Ronnie Dayan.
The Muntinlupa RTC is the first out of the three courts in-charge of De Lima’s cases, to issue a warrant of arrest.
De Lima is currently inside her office at the Senate building.
The Department of Justice filed three charges against the rookie senator, for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Acts after De Lima allegedly extorted money from high-profile inmates inside the NBP to use for her campaign funds in the 2016 national elections.
In a recent exclusive interview with De Lima at DZRH, the senator pleaded that she would be spared from being arrested in either her home or at the Senate session hall.
