Detained Senator Leila De Lima insisted that the court should junk the case filed against her by the House of Representatives.
De Lima is facing ‘Disobedience to Summons’ at branch 34 of the Municipal Trial Court in Quezon City, after the senator snubbed the hearing in Congress in connection with the illegal drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison.
Atty. Boni Tacardon, lawyer of De Lima, said that it would be impossible for the lady senator to order Ronnie Dayan to hide because the latter was already in hiding when Congress started its probe on the said issue.
Atty. Tacardon added that the prosecution’s evidence against her client is weak.
De Lima’s camp also presented ‘transcript of records’ of the hearing at the Lower House, asking the court to look into it, and hope that it will release a resolution on June 9.
Before going back to her detention center at the Philippine National Police-Camp Crame, De Lima told reporters that the only reason why they released Marine Col. Ferdinand Marcelino is to use him as witness against her.
