Senate president Pro-tempore Franklin Drilon confronted the communications group of President Rodrigo Duterte for allegedly having multiple spokespersons.
According to Drilon, the Office of the President should be able to fix this issue because it creates conflict when they issue the statements to the public.
During the budget hearing of the Presidential Communications office, Drilon proposed that they should determine and appoint someone to speak in behalf of the President.
Drilon stressed that this proposal aims to avoid being quoted as “Department of Miscommunication.”
Meanwhile, PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar agrees with Drilon’s proposal.
Andanar said that as of now, the authorized person to speak on behalf of the President, aside from him are Asst. Secretary Ernesto Abella and Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.
The PCOO Secretary clarified that President Duterte has notified his Cabinet that they are only allowed to speak if it concerns the agency they are assigned to.
