Presidential Peace Adviser Jesus Dureza happily revealed that the European Union (EU) has removed Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founding Chairman Jose Maria Sison from its terrorist list.
However, Dureza said that the armed wing of CPP, the New People’s Army (NPA) and its political arm, the National Democratic Front (NDF) remains in the EU list of terrorist groups.
Despite of this, Dureza is confident that Philippines will achieve the aspired peace due to the trust built between the present government and the NDF.
Meanwhile, Dureza confirmed that both parties are finalizing the mechanism for implementing the bilateral ceasefire in the next 60 days.
Dureza said the government and the CPP-NPA need to agree on the draft, mechanisms, and other requirements to complete the peace agreement.
