No luck yet for team Gilas

National players Ranidel de Ocampo, left, and Marc Pingris face off during a game between Talk N Text and San Mig Super Coffee. The two will lead the Team Gilas Pilipinas national team which battle the Team Fibr All-Stars of NBA players in the Last Home Stand on July 22 and 23 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

It is another disappointing game for team Gilas as they ended up with their fifth consecutive loss in their tune up game in Spain.

Perennial African champion Angola beat Gilas Pilipinas, 83-74 in spite of the beastly performance of naturalized player Andray Blatche.  Blatche registered with 33 points and 17 rebounds.

However, national coach Chot Reyes said that the liked the performance of his team because the game was close even without his two top players, Jason Castro and Paul Lee.

According to Reyes, the game of his big men’ Junmar Fajardo and Japeth Aguilar improved a lot and were even active in defense and offensive boards.

But unfortunately, Jeff Chan, Ranidel De Ocampo and LA Tenorio failed miserably in delivering the goods.  They missed so many open shots at the rainbow land.

Aside from Blatche, no other player from the Gilas team scored double-digit.
