Metro Manila welcomed its 2014 with a full heaping of garbage.
The contract of the private company, Leonel, in-charge of collecting garbage around Metro Manila has expired already.
In line with this, the local government is working double-time in removing the trash that was left by people who celebrated their New Year’s day all over the Metro, including Luneta Park.
According to Manila Department of Public Service Chief Che Borromeo, there are three companies, who apparently are involved in the bidding for the new contract, volunteered to remove the trash after Leonel’s contract expired last December 31, 2013.
This morning, the three companies already deployed their trucks and started collecting trash in the city.
