The Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) is allegedly  planning to invade Palawan next after Bohol.

The rebel group had an encounter with the military last April 12, 2017 in Bohol wherein nine persons were killed, including an Army junior officer, two Enlisted Personnel and one police.

Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) confirmed the information they received regarding the bandit’s plan to transfer to Palawan but  are still in the process of verifying it.

Due to this, the full forces of the AFP and PNP in the province are on alert and added deployment in famous tourist destinations in Palawan, particularly in Coron.

The still unconfirmed information is expected to affect the tourism of Palawan.

Some travel agencies are said to be complaining of travel advisories released by some countries against the Philippines due to terrorism threat.

However, Malacaῆang assured that it is still safe to travel to the Philippines despite of reports that around 500 tourists from Japan cancelled their trip to the country.
