The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office issued a warning against gambling lords and their protectors that they will no longer escape the law and the billions and billions of unpaid taxes they have yet to pay the government.
OCAO General Manager Alexander Balutan made the confirmation during the press conference and consultative meeting of the PCSO together with local government executives of Cavite and the Philippine National Police.
According to Balutan, there is only one legal numbers’ game in the Philippines, which is STL or the Small Time Lottery, wherein part of its earnings goes to charity, like public hospitals, free medical and other health services, and programs for the poor.
Balutan added that the expanded STL earnings have reached to Php2.88 billion during the first quarter of this year, wherein an estimate of 60,000 patients are benefiting from it.
In line with this, Balutan wants everyone’s cooperation, including local government units and the police, to intensify their operations and capture all gambling lords and whoever is protecting or coddling them.
