President Rodrigo Duterte did not offer any Cabinet position to Vice President Leni Robredo when the latter paid him a visit in Malacanang on Monday.
However, Vice President Leni said that President Digong has asked for her support and help in running his administration.
According to Robredo, as her reply to Duterte’s request, the Vice President gave her contact details to the President’s staff so that they will be able to contact her immediately if the President would like her to do something for him.
In line with this, Robredo said that with or without a position in the Duterte Cabinet, the lady Vice President will continue to support the new administration.
Meanwhile, there is a possibility that Vice President Leni will be appointed as the new ‘Housing Czar’, a position that remains unoccupied under the Duterte administration.
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian said that the position is vital for the programs of the Duterte administration, especially in solving the poverty problem in the country.
Gatchalian added that because Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco was given the agencies that will be in-charge of the anti-poverty programs, President Digong may consider the Housing portfolio for Robredo.
The rookie Senator welcomed the first Executive Order of President Digong, tasking the 12 government agencies to solve the problem in poverty and make sure that food security is ample.
Senator Gringo Honasan on the other hand said that it is a good sign that Duterte and Robredo finally has the chance to talk, and he expects that there will be coordination between the two when it comes to the programs of the government.
