Senators gave their condolences to the family of former Senator Leticia Ramos-Shahani who passed away today, March 20, at the age of 87. Ex-Sen. Shahani breathed her last pass 2:40AM at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bonifacio Global City due to Colon Cancer.
According Sen. Loren Legarda, Sen. Shahani, or Manang Letty as people close to her call her, was one of the finest and distinguished legislators who pushed for Women’s Rights, Education, Environment, and Culture.
Sen. Sonny Angara, meanwhile, praised the former Senator for her work as a diplomat and two-term Senator of the country. Angara even said that the lady Senator was active in her advocacies, even if she was no longer part of the Senate.
Lila Shahani, daughter of the Former Senator, confirmed through her Facebook the passing of her mother. Sen. Shahani had three children with her late husband Ranjee Shahani, a former professor.
As a Senator, she once headed the committees on foreign affairs, education, culture and arts, agriculture and appointments.
