Gilas Pilipinas successfully grabbed the crown of the Southeast Asian Basketball Association Championship last May 18 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Cubao.
The Philippine National Basketball team defeated the team of Indonesia with a score of 97-64.
During the first quarter of the game, Indonesia led by five points at the early minutes of the game.
However, Gilas was able to counterattack immediately to grab the lead in the first five minutes of the game.
The Philippine National Basketball team then maintained their offensive and was able to widen the score gap by 20 points at the end of the quarter
At the second quarter, Indonesia was able to prevent the Philippines from expanding the point difference and the score reached to 51-30 by the end of the first half.
Gilas then continued to put the pressure on Indonesia during the 3rd quarter and 4th quarter, and the point difference reached to more than 30 points.
Naturalized Player Andray Blatche led the Gilas to their by giving 20 points and 10 rebounds throughout the whole game.
Indonesia’s Import Jamarr Johnson meanwhile was placed on guarded carefully and was only limited to four points.
Due to this victory, Gila is undefeated in their 6 games during the 2017 SEABA Championships.
This victory also qualifies the Philippines, as the representative of SEABA, in the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup this August and the ASEAN Qualifiers this November.
